The Designer

Lead Creator of Mark the Occasion DesignsI’ve been crafting floral arrangements from materials like tulle and silk to give to friends for some time. When my mother offered me her veil for my wedding, the stars aligned. Knowing that the veil was a bit touched by age and not quite my style, we excitedly discussed using the veil to build the flowers. And the rest, as they say, is history.

As an event planner with over 12 years in the nonprofit, corporate and association markets, I know that while you need to get the big things right, it’s the details that offer meaning and polish. Through Mark the Occasion Designs, I’ve melded my business acumen, my event planning expertise and my creativity into a business that brings delight both to me and my customers. What could be better than that?

I remain heavily involved in the Milwaukee community, both from a business and philanthropic perspective. I’m an active member of several professional groups including Local First Milwaukee and the Friends of the Milwaukee Public Museum.

And yes, my own wedding was wonderful. Each time I look at my bouquet, I am reminded of that day. My husband Randy and I settled in southeastern Wisconsin and are the proud pet parents of Noah, an adorable Welsh Corgi. When I’m not being amused by Noah’s antics, I enjoy teaching Pilates, cooking, and reading anything I can get my hands on. Lately, this has meant my Google Reader and others’ Pinterest boards.

I love Milwaukee summers and love connecting with clients at many local farmer’s markets. Here, I display sample wedding arrangements, but also showcase more everyday items I create such as jewelry, home decor, and children’s fun. I love being crafty and have enjoyed applying the techniques learned in making bouquets to more casual pieces as well.

My commitment to my customers is to deliver bouquets, corsages and boutonnieres that are unique and beautiful—whether they start with treasured family materials or the myriad of colored and patterned fabrics I have available. Having a unique touch doesn’t mean these lasting pieces carry a hefty price tag. The event planner side of me is highly attuned to budgets and deadlines, and I’ll work with you to ensure it all comes together on time and on budget. I welcome learning about your vision for your big event and helping make it a lasting memory.

I am a designer. A crafter. A reminder of good times and a maker of occasions. Let me make something for you.
